*Getting ready for your 2012 Garden*
Spring will be here before you know it!
Last year we experimented with our first garden here at the Mystic Meadows and we are proud to say that all summer long we harvested fresh organic veggies to serve at Tavern 27! This was in part due to the very helpful and generous advice of our neighbors, Karen and Tom Barker. We asked Karen if they would be interested in sharing some info with our guests and of course she graciously agreed. If you are new to gardening and would like to know where and how to start, this is the perfect place to begin!!
Local farmer and permaculturist Karen Barker will be giving a complimentary informal talk on seed purchasing and preparing for the 2012 growing season. She will share her favorite seed companies and seed selections, as well as other ideas to help you plan your organic garden this year. This is ideal for those looking to start their own gardens using organic and heirloom seeds but are not sure where to begin.
Complimentary snacks will be served.

Karen and Tom Barker are the owners of Minglewood Farm, a small farm just around the corner from Tavern 27! They grow vegetables and fruits for themselves and for sale at the Laconia Main Street Outdoor Market, as members of the Full Basket Co-op. They also keep laying hens, and have raised meat birds, turkeys, and pigs at various times over the years. Tom has been gardening organically for nearly 40 years, following the lead of his grandmother! Karen assists Tom in the gardens, harvests produce, preserves food, and staffs the Full Basket Co-op booth at the market.
